April 30 2008: The latest is that home-owners are being warned to be vigilant after a surge in home heating oil thefts has left unlucky families out of pocket. Several recent incidents have seen thieves target quiet, rural communities, siphoning fuel from oil storage tanks outside people’s homes, leaving them with little or no fuel.

Police Search For Heating Oil Culprits

TAYLOR TWP. (KDKA) ― The search continues today for the person or people who took the heating oil right out of the tank of a Lawrence County church. It happened at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in West Pittsburg. Police say the church had their heating oil tank filled at the beginning of the month. But sometime between March 1 and 2 the oil was pumped out of the tank.
